Madrid Club Concerned With High Oil Prices: PFMC Head

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend U.Ismayilova / This week Spain hosted an annual conference at the Madrid Club, dedicated to the energy sector. Ingilab Ahmadov, the head of the Public Finance Monitoring Center (PFMC), who attended the conference titled 'Democratization of Energy: Geopolitics and State Power', said that the participants at the Madrid Club voiced their concerns over the current high oil prices. The world oil prices currently comprise approximately $100 per barrel.

Ahmadov said that the conference discussed the European energy security, alternatives to Russian supplies of hydrocarbons. Central Asia and South Caucasus are among the alternative oil and gas deliverers to Europe.

In one of the meetings Ahmadov delivered a report on energy opportunities of Azerbaijan in ensuring stable delivery of energy resources.

Madrid Club unites 66 former heads of democratic countries and governments. The mission of the club is to assist the heads of states and governments in strengthening and developing democracy and democratic intuitions. The club also unites internationally renowned politicians. The budget of the club for different projects comprises €10mln.
