Two Hydro Power Stations to be Constructed in Azerbaijan’s Autonomous Republic this year

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 January /corr. Trend E.Mammadov / The construction of a hydro power station with a capacity of 20 MWt over Gilanchay river in Ordubad District and a hydro power station with a capacity of 36 MWt over Araz river in Azerbaijan's Nakchivan Autonomous Republic is expected to commence this year, said the Director State Energy Agency of Nakchivan, Yasin Safarov, on 25 January.

According to Safarov, 65,248 electronic meters (99.9% of subscribers) have been installed to exactly account the electricity consumption in Nakchivan. In 2007 467,684,000 KWt/h electricity was consumed in Nakchivan compared to 1bln 3.818mln KWt/h in 2006.

In 2007 AZN 17,932mln have been collected from the sale of electricity and it makes up 68.63% of the supplied electricity. Of them, AZN 9,123mln fell on population, AZN 730,000 - private companies, and AZN 2.337mln - institutions and organizations.

Module electric power station with a capacity of 87 MWt and gas-turbine electric power station with a capacity of 50MWt are functioning in the country with gas regime.
