Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 February / Trend / In January - November 2007 the United States imported 16.5mln barrels of oil compared to 7.644mln barrels oil imported in 2006, according to the US Energy Information Administration which is part of the US Energy Ministry.
Oil import made up 2.317mln barrels in November 2007, 1.087mln barrels in October, 1.766mln barrels in September, 1.034mln barrels in August, 2.101mln in July, 1.736mln barrels in June, 2.055mln barrels in May, 1.728mln barrels in April, 17,000 barrels in March, and 2.677mln barrels in January
In 2006 the United States purchased 10mln barrels of Azerbaijani oil compared to 563,000 barrels in 2005. In 2004 the figure was 484,000 barrels.
A major part of Azerbaijani light oil is exported from the Turkish port of Ceyhan, where the crude is delivered via the Baku-Tbilisi Ceyhan pipeline. This route has been functioning since 2005. Oil is also exported from the Georgian Black Sea port of Batumi, where it is delivered from Baku by rail and from the Novorossiysk port, where it is delivered via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline. Azerbaijani light oil is exported from the Georgian port of Supsa where it is delivered via the Baku-Supsa pipeline. At present this pipeline is under repair.
