Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 June / Trend / "From January to March, 2008, the USA imported 4.378mln barrels oil from Azerbaijan, while in the same period of 2007 the country imported 2.677mln barrels," the US state-run Energy Information Agency (EIA) reported.
In 2007, USA purchased 20.643mln barrels of Azerbaijani oil and in 2006 - 9.744mln barrels.
The main route for transportation of Azerbaijani oil is the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline which pumps oil to the Turkish port Ceyhan.
Azerbaijani light oil was also exported from Georgian Supsa port, to which it is delivered via Baku-Supsa pipeline. The pipeline has been repaired and is being currently filled. Oil is also exported from Georgian Black Sea port of Batumi to which it is delivered by railway from Baku, and from Novorossiysk port to which it is pumped through Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.
