Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 June /corr. Trend E.Ismaylov / This week, a date will be determined for the meeting of the Azerbaijani and Iranian experts with regards to beginning of construction of small border hydropower station in Ordubad River in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, said Natig Aliyev, Azerbaijan's Minister of Industry and Energy. Azerbaijani side has already prepared feasibility study for the project. Currently the response of the Iranian side is expected.
"Azerbaijani side suggested holding meeting of experts in Nakhchivan to accelerate realization of the project. Date of the meeting will be determined in the near future," the Minister said.
Despite that realization of the project delays a little, the ceremony of laying the fundament of the power station should take place in the near future, Aliyev said.
The design capacity of the power station is forecasted at 36MWt. This project envisages constructing two power stations (one in Azerbaijan and one in Iran) over bordering Araz River in Ordubad district of Nakhchivan. The water resources of the River will be used on a parity base.
