Oil Consumption in Azerbaijan Unchanged in 2006-2007, EIA Report

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 October / Trend / In 2007, daily oil production in Azerbaijan exceeded 842,000 barrels, while in 1997 production totalled 173,000 barrels, US State Energy Information Administration (EIA) report said.

Oil production totalled 230,000 barrels in 1998, 276,000 barrels in 1999, over 280,000 barrels in 2000, over 301,000 barrels in 2001, over 310,000 barrels in 2002, 320,000 barrels in 2003, over 311,000 barrels in 2004. From 2005 on, oil production has been growing and comprised some 433,000 barrels. In 2006, the figure amounted to 640,000 barrels.

Oil consumption in Azerbaijan totalled 127,000 barrels per day in 2007 (129,000 barrels per day in 1997).

Greatest volume of oil was consumed in 1999 - 149,000 barrels per day, 1999 - 146,000 barrels, 2000 - 137,000 barrels. The least bulk of oil was consumed in 2002 - 110,000 barrels per day, 2003 - 111,000 barrels, 2004 - 113,000 barrels, 2005 - 115,000 barrels and 2006 - 127,000 barrels.

In 2007, daily refining capacity totalled 399,000 barrels (442,000 barrels in 1997). From 1998 to 2003, the figure remained unchanged - 442,000 barrels per day. In 2004-2006, daily refining capacity totalled 399,000 barrels.
