The Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery Plant (ORP) of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has received necessary technique to install a new computer management system on coking rig, a source at SOCAR said.

Coking rig designates to receive oil coke and refine additional number of light oil products from dark wastes.

"The plant has received almost all necessary equipment, except small part," the source said.

Work under upgrading coking rig is underway and the new computer system will be more likely commissioned by the end of 2009.

Work on the installation of new system began last year. The ordered equipment of the American Honeywell company comes to the plant stage by stage. The new computer system is necessary for ensuring the reliability of management, operations, security and exact fulfillment of the technological tasks of the installation, earlier the source said.

Honeywell presents technology and equipment for automation and operation of industrial facilities. The systems of the automation of company were established on 12 of 13 largest oil refineries of Russia.

Work to apply a computer system for control on the installation of catalytic reforming will not be commenced this year. More likely the work will begin in 2010. "Exact date to launch the project is still to be defined,: the same source said..

Installation of catalytic reforming is necessary for catalytic refining petrol fractions under a pressure to get high-octane petrol, aromatic hydrocarbon and hydrogenous gas

There are two oil refinery plants (ORP) in Azerbaijan, including the Heydar Aliyev ORP and Azneftyag ORP. The first ORP produces light oil and the second - dark products. Both ORPs' production capacity is 20 million tons of oil each year. Both ORPs belong to SOCAR which produces roughly 6 million tons of oil each year from offshore and onshore fields by own means.
