Implementation of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Azerbaijan will certainly have positive impact on country's investment image, EITI International Secretariat Member Ilgilab Ahmadov said to Trend correspondent at the second national conference entitled Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Kazakhstan held in Astana.
"Conformance to EITI standards in Azerbaijan means that country's revenues [from hydrocarbon export] are transparent and they are all taken into account by the state. It also means they serve country's welfare," Ahmadov said.
The expert said EITI must further be developed in the country as there are still unresolved problems.
"But I am sure that Azerbaijan's will not change policy line and we will always rank first in implementations of this initiative. We have a chance to show not only investors, but also population that oil revenues serve country's welfare and economic development," Ahmadov said.
"Kazakhstan is a very big country. So it possesses oil and gas mining industries. Not all companies are involved with EITI in Kazakhstan whereas all companies have joined EITI in Azerbaijan. The problems will be solved by time," Ahmadov said.
He said even companies involved with EITI in Kazakhstan do not present reports. "It means that work with companies must be intensified," Ahmadov said.
