Azerbaijan interested in providing energy security, Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said at an "Energy security: challenges and new opportunities" workshop.
Political and commercial issues are interconnected, as the common challenge is to produce energy abundantly, Azimov told a workshop in the framework of NATO week in Azerbaijan.
The energy vulnerability and energy security, which may cause certain threat with which we do not want to face once more, is of great importance. The issues of energy security and social safety are interconnected and must harmonize each other, the deputy minister said.
There are doubts that NATO has enough opportunity to provide energy security, Azimov added.
A single approach is relevant in the energy security. "This issue must be considered by national politicians on the international level. Energy consumer countries are concerned about their dependence. Energy suppliers misuse of their position. The energy security issue must be considered unanimously by the international community," Azimov said.
Azerbaijan is interested in providing energy security and whatever happens on the hydrocarbon market countries will be provided with energy resources.
