Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 4 / Trend , E.Ismayilov/

On Oct. 13-14, Baku will host a conference on alternative and renewable energy, organized the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry and OSCE, the ministry's spokesmen Azar Mansimli said on Sept. 4.

In July, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree establishing the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy. According to the decree, the staff of this agency will comprise 25 people.

According to estimates on alternative energy sources, in the future, alternative energy will provide around 5-7 percent of electrical energy produced in Azerbaijan, and in the future, alternative energy sources may comprise 10 percent of the total volume of the heat energy production, says an article on the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister, Natiq Aliyev, published in the newspaper Azerbaijan.

The result of the use of alternative energy sources could be saving fuel used in the work of thermal power plants, as well as a comparative reduction in the emission of harmful substances. Geographical location and climatic conditions allow Azerbaijan to make extensive use of clean and alternative energy sources that are already widely available in developed countries, the article said.
