BP Oil Company is launching a project in Azerbaijan "a number of reports on geo-science and engineering". BP is a participant to large-scale energy projects in Azerbaijan, in particular the development of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli offshore oil and gas fields, Shah Deniz offshore gas condensate field, the projects of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline.
Within the project, the students and researchers in the field of geophysics, geology and engineering will have an opportunity to meet and exchange views with well-known scientists and specialists in this sphere.
The first event within the project was held today at Azerbaijan State Oil Academy. Here, the Head of BP Azerbaijan, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences, Rashid Javanshir, presented a report titled "Basin of the Southern Caspian: rare geology and rare oil system".
Within the new initiative, BP plans to hold monthly events at the Oil Academy, which will be attended by local and international experts in the field of geology, geophysics, earth sciences and technology.
