The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is planning to complete in late 2010 drilling new well on the "March 8 - 730" platform in an offshore field developed by the company independently, a source in SOCAR said.
Expected daily well production rate is about 350,000 cubic meters of gas and 40 tons of condensate.
"According to the action plan, the drilling should be completed in November- December 2010," the source said
Projected depth of the well is 5,800 meters, 1,200 meters of which have already been drilled, the source added
Earlier SOCAR planned to begin drilling new wells on platform 578, but later it was decided to move the rig to the platform number 730, and start drilling here due to difficulty posed to production from other wells.
At present, March 8 field daily produces more than 400,000 cubic meters of gas. Company's geologists have identified nine points for further drilling, SOCAR said earlier.
Azerbaijan has 59 oil and gas fields, 18 of which are offshore and the rest-onshore.
