Uzbekneftegaz has announced a tender to supply two turbo generators and three gas-pumping units with a total capacity of 6 billion cubic meters of gas per year on "turnkey"conditions at the Shurtanneftegaz subsidiary, a company source reported.

Under the tender terms, the equipment's maximal cost cannot exceed $31.6 million.

Tender bids will be accepted until March 5. The tender results will be summarized by the end of the first quarter of this year.

The equipment has been purchased within the fifth and sixth stages of a propane-butane mixture construction at Shurtanneftegaz with the aim to produce 100,000 tons of liquefied gas per year.

The total project cost is $97.5 million. The implementation period is two years.

The project is funded by a loan from the Uzbek Fund for Reconstruction and Development for $50 million and Uzbekneftegaz's own funds worth $47.5 million.

Shurtanneftegaz is one of three gas processing plants in Uzbekneftegaz. The company annually processes about 11 billion cubic meters of gas.

In 2009, Uzbekistan reduced its liquefied hydrocarbon gas production volume by 0.7 percent to to 246,100 tons.

Uzbekistan holds second place in natural gas production among CIS countries after Russia. Every year, the country produces about 60 billion cubic meters of gas.

Uzbekneftegaz is the country's oil and gas sector monopoly operator. It was established in 1998 and comprises six joint stock companies.
