Oil production ups by 6 percent in Azerbaijan in January-March

Azerbaijan produced 12.3 million tons of crude oil and condensate in January-March, which is 6.4 percent more than in January-March 2009, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said.

The bulk of oil production last month fell to the Azerbaijan International Operating Company, which extracted 10,2 million tons of crude oil and condensate on the block of offshore fields Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and gas condensate field Shah Deniz. It is 7.8 percent more than the same period of last year.

Gas production amounted to 6,5 billion cubic meters in Azerbaijan in January-March, which is 9.6 percent more than the same period of last year. About 2,8 billion cubic meters of gas or 8.2 percent less than in January-March 2009 fall to "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" (associated gas) and Shah Deniz.

Azerbaijan produced about 5.34 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January-March or 8.8 percent less than the same period of last year.
