SOCAR and KMG announce tender for feasibility study of Transcaspian system

The consortium, which includes SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and KMG-Transcaspian (a subsidiary of KMG - Kazakhstan's national company) announced a contest to determine the contractor for the feasibility study of Transcaspian oil transport system, SOCAR said.

The consortium, which includes SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and KMG-Transcaspian (a subsidiary of KMG - Kazakhstan's national company) announced a contest to determine the contractor for the feasibility study of Transcaspian oil transport system, SOCAR said.

One can familiarize with the rules and registration procedures on the official website of the Trans-Caspian project - www.transcaspianproject.com.

Bids are accepted until July 14.

Transcaspian system is built to transport oil from Kazakhstan on routes through the territory of Azerbaijan to enter the Mediterranean Sea through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the Black Sea - along the routes of transportation of Azerbaijan-Georgia. The second passage involves both the oil transportation by railway, and considering the possibility of building a new oil pipeline Baku - the Black Sea.

The initial capacity of Trans-Caspian transportation system will be 23 million tons per year. It involves the construction of tankers and terminals in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, as well as the connecting pipes.
