Kazakh port transports 5 million tons of oil cargo

The Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transported 5.1 million tons of oil cargo this year in January-June compared to over 5.5 million tons during the same period in 2009, the port said. Transshipped oil cargo in June hit 811.500 tons compared to 1.1 million tons in 2009.

The port transported over 11.3 million tons of oil cargo in 2009 compared to 9 million tons in 2008.

About 1.65 million tons dry cargo were transported in January-June compared to 1 million tons in January-June last year. Roughly 958.110 tons of the total volume of dry cargo transported in January-June fell to steel products.

Last year, the port transported over 2.6 million tons of dry cargo compared to 2.11 million tons in 2008.

The port transported 6.75 million tons of oil and dry cargo in January-June compared to 6.6 million tons in January-June last year.

Total transshipment in 2009 amounted to about 14 million tons of oil and dry cargo compared to 11 million tons in 2008.

In January-June, the port received 1,089 vessels.

There are six international seaports on the Caspian Sea - Baku (Azerbaijan), Astrakhan (Russia), Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan), Aktau (Kazakhstan), Anzali and Neka (Iran).
