CJSC Azerbaijan Railways increases transportation of oil cargo

In January-June CJSC Azerbaijan Railways transported approximately six million tons of oil cargo compared to about 4,6 million tons in January-June last year, a source in the company said.
"There is significant growth in transportation of oil and oil products. In the first half about 5 million 998,000 tons of cargo were transported, or 30.9 percent more than in January-June last year," the source said.
He said that in January-June about 10.8 million tons of cargo was transported by Azerbaijani railway compared to about 10.1 million tons in the first half of last year.
CJSC chief engineer Gurban Nazirov said that the company plans to transport some 30 million tons of various cargoes by late 2010. Growth in the transportation of goods is observed mainly due to increase in transportation oil cargo and dry goods (construction materials).
