Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec. 3 / Trend H.Hasanov /

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov has proposed holding a special meeting of the heads of OSCE energy agencies to discuss energy security, Turkmen media reported.

"We are ready to host this meeting in Ashgabat," he said at the OSCE Astana summit.

"We clearly see the prospects for cooperation within our organization," he said. "We appreciate the progress that has become particularly obvious in recent years and are clearly aware of the importance of a sustained and mutually respectful dialogue with partners. We consider the opportunities offered to us by this summit in this vein."

An international forum on strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia to ensure stable and reliable energy was organized by the Turkmen Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources Ministry and the OSCE in Ashgabat in May 2010.

Turkmenistan joined the OSCE on Jan. 30, 1992. An OSCE center has operated in Ashgabat since that time.
