Vietnam Dung Quat oil refinery plans to increase oil imports to one million tons next year, Vietnam Business & Economy News quoted Executive Director of Binh Son Petrochemical Nguyen Hoai Giang, manager Dung Quat, as saying.
The names of the oil suppliers were not disclosed.
According to the Saigon Tiep Thi newspaper, the volume of imported oil in 2011 twice exceeds the procurement amount of 400,000 tons, made since the plant's activity in February 2009.
In April, SOCAR and the Petrovietnam oil corporation signed the memorandum of"Understanding" in the oil and gas sector, as well as an agreement on long-term deliveries of Azerbaijani oil to the Vietnamese Oil Refineries. SOCAR Trading in Singapore will deal with oil supplies.
Dung Quat will produce about 4.9 million tons of oil products in 2011, most of which are destined for the domestic market. Operations are likely to stop from mid-July to mid-September for repair works, Petrovietnam reported.
Dung Quat is the first refinery in Vietnam with a planned capacity of 6.5 million tons per year.
Today, Dung Quat's capacity is 135.500 barrels per day. It plans to increase its production capacity to 170,000 barrels per day.
Since the beginning of its commercial activity in February 2009, Dung Quat processed 8,000,000 tons of oil.
