American MI-LLC completes the process of preparing a feasibility study for the project of the reconstruction of a recycling center of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), SOCAR Ecology Department said.

The contract on the feasibility study for the reconstruction of the recycling center was signed by MI-LLC and SOCAR on May 20 last year. The document was signed by SOCAR vice-president for Ecological Issues Soltan Aliyev and MI LLC Vice president Mr. Sven Maikranz..

Within the feasibility study it is envisaged to choose appropriate technologies for processing, depending on the volume of waste formed as a result of the activities of SOCAR's enterprises.

Work is conducted within the framework of the grant agreement signed between SOCAR and the American Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) worth $572,000. The agreement was signed on Aug.13 last year.

A draft on waste management was prepared and approved last year in order to create a single system of waste management, formed in enterprises included in SOCAR, the company said. SOCAR's recycling center recycled 6.4 tons of oil sludge and 196.5 tons of other waste types (17 types) in 2010.
