Iran to increase oil production from joint fields

Iran will increase oil production from joint oil fields to 1.1 million barrels per day by the end of the Fifth Socio-Economic Development Plan (2010-2015), PANA News reported quoting Deputy Oil Minister in planning Mohsen Khojasteh.

Currently Iran has at least 15 oil fields to develop jointly with its neighbor countries.

"By implementing development plans, Iran's oil production capacity from joint fields will increase to 1.1 million barrels per day," he said.

The Iranian Oil Ministry's priority is to attract investment, discovering operations and increasing production.

"The Oil Ministry focuses on attracting investment in oil and gas field's development and maximum productivity from joint fields," Khojasteh underscored.

Iran has OPEC's second-highest oil output, and ranks second in the world in terms of natural gas reserves after Russia.
