Iran's MPs criticized delaying the phases 9 and 10 in gas production at South Pars while the country's oil production has reduced by 100,000 barrels per day, Mehr News Agency reported quoting the head of the Parliament Energy Commission Hamidreza Katouzian as saying.

"At present, the operation process in all phases of South Pars face delay," he said."It is impossible to produce gas in phases 9 and 10 until the end of this solar year (started on March 20, 2011)."

All contractors of this project, except Khatam ol-Anbia Construction Camp, are facing delays while developing South Pars gas filed.

"The National Iranian Oil Company's officials must have reviewed the financial resources, equipment and other facilities before signing the contracts of developing new Phases of South Pars gas fields with domestic companies," he said.

Meantime, the Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mussa Souri said earlier that all gas wells in these two joint Phases with Qatar will operate according to the timeline by late December.

At present, about 7 of 24 wells with production capacity of 18 million cubic meters of gas were comissioned while 70 percent of wells in the Phase 9 and 10 are not operational.

It was predicted that by launching the onshore refineries and offshore wells, phases 9 and 10 will produce 50 million cubic meters of gas per day.

According to BP statistics published in June, Iran produced 4.245 million barrels of oil and 138.5 billion cubic meters of gas in 2010.
