Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 5 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped over 1 million tons of oil cargo in January-July which is less by 7 percent compared to the same period of 2010, a source in the Baku International Sea Trade Port said.

"A -7-percent decline was recorded in transshipment of oil products in January-July," the source said. "The total transshipment of oil and oil products amounted to 1.064 million tons".
The source said the downward trend in the port's turnover of oil cargo from Central Asia is linked with the redirection of the part of volume to the Sangachal oil terminal.

The Baku International Sea Trade Port transshipped 1.99 million tons of oil cargo in 2010 which is less by 21 percent compared to 2009. The rate of decline is due to overall decline in the transit of the Kazakh and Turkmen oil and from middle of last year redirection of the part of the oil cargo from Central Asia to the oil terminal at Sangachal, where Cross Caspian transhipments are carried out.

In 2009, the Baku Port transhipped 2.5 million tons of oil cargo, which is 10 percent less than in 2008. In total, in 2009 the port transhipped 5.1 million tons of cargo.
