Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Sept. 15 / Trend H.Hasanov /

The State Concern Turkmenneft has reported receiving a strong inflow of oil from the North Goturdepe field in the shallow end of the Caspian Sea.

"Results were obtained while testing exploration well No. 37 in the Caspian Sea's shallow waters, one kilometer from the shore. According to preliminary estimates, output is 730 tons per day," the report reads.

Work opened just three new high-debit layers - in the depth intervals 4,626-4,629, 4,612-4,618 and 4,448-4,454 meters.

Machinery and equipment used during the operations were manufactured in Germany, China, and Russia, and allow drilling wells with depths ranging from 4 to 7 miles.

Deep and ultra-deep wells drilled in Eastern Cheleken, North Goturdepe and south-western fields allowed clarification of the geological structure and provided a substantial increase of the country's hydrocarbon reserves.

The Turkmen government said that "this is evidence of the great potential of the Turkmen shelf in the Caspian Sea and the coastal zone. It once again confirms the forecasts on the existence of promising oil and gas structures, and consequently, the possible opening of the new rich storehouse of hydrocarbons."
