Iran replaces Gazprom with domestic consortium in oil project

Iran’s National Iranian Oil Company removed Russia’s Gazprom from development of Azar joint oil field and will offer the project to domestic consortium , Fars News Agency reported quoting Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company Ahmad Ghalebani as saying.

Iran's National Iranian Oil Company removed Russia's Gazprom from development of Azar joint oil field and will offer the project to domestic consortium , Fars News Agency reported quoting Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company Ahmad Ghalebani as saying.

"Unfortunately Russia's Gazprom failed to fulfilled it's commitment and ignored ultimatums of National Iranian Oil Company, we decided to end our cooperation in Azar oil field and give the project to domestic contractors," he said.

He noted the name of domestic contractors which join the project in form of consortium will be announced in near future.

It was reported earlier that Iran will sign $2 billion contract with domestic consortium to develop joint filed with Iraq.

The Azar joint oilfield is located at the Anaran block, west of Iran, and its total reserves along with the Iraqi side, which is called Badra, is estimated to be 400 million barrels.

Once the development plan is completed, the oilfield will produce 50,000-65,000 barrels of light crude per day for a period of 25 years.
