OPEC says Iran’s oil production decreases

Iranian oil output decreased to 3.578 million barrels per day in October 2011, OPEC reported on Wednesday.

The country's production was 3.598 million in August and 3.601 million in September.

The production constituted 3.656 million barrels per day on average in the first quarter, 3.656 million in the second quarter and 3.603 million in the third quarter of 2011.

According to OPEC's report, Iran's oil production was 3.706 million barrels per day in average in 2010, indicating a rise by 128,000 barrels more than current output level.

However, the National Iranian South Oil Company Managing Director Hourmuz Galavand said in October 2011 that Iran's current oil production is 3.9 million barrels of oil per day.

Iran has OPEC's third-highest oil output, and ranks third in the world in terms of natural gas reserves after Russia.

The overall oil output of OPEC members, including Iraq, was reported at 29.888 million barrels per day in October 2011.

OPEC members include Algeria, Libya, Angola, Nigeria, Ecuador, Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Venezuela.
