About 30 million tons of oil transported via BTC in Jan.-Oct.

In January-October 2011, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 29.7 million tons of oil compared to 32 million at the same period of 2010, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) reported.

As of 2010, the volumes of oil transported via BTC hit 38.3 million tons.

"In January-October 76.1 percent of oil, transported via the country's main oil pipelines, accounted for Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline," the State Statistics Committee said.

The BТС's total length is 1.768 kilometers including a 443-kilometer section running via Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer section traversing Georgia and a 1.076-kilometer section passing through Turkey. The pipeline's construction began in April 2003. First oil was marked May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders include: BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); Statoil Hydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and Amerada Hess (2.36 percent).

In January-October, the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) transported 3.7 billion cubic meters of gas compared to 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas in January-October 2010.

The gas pipeline transported 4.9 billion cubic meters of gas in 2010.

The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (South Caucasian gas pipeline) is more than 700 km. The pumping capacity is more than 20 billion cubic meter of gas per year. The gas produced from the Shah Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported via the pipeline. The gas is supplied to Georgia and Turkey. Azerbaijan also acts as gas buyer.
