The length of SOCAR's Azerigas pipelines is 4350 kilometres, according to a SOCAR press release issued on Thursday. The production Association Azerigaz transports the gas on the Azerbaijan territory.
Gas exports to Russia and Georgia, as well as switching supplies to Iran to meet the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic gas needs are all carried by these pipelines.
The supply and transportation of gas for the population, plus delivery to JSC Azerenergy (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan), as well as for pumping high-pressure gas in underground storage facilities in Azerbaijan and its selection are also implemented by the pipelines.
Renovation and restoration work are constantly being carried out for safe and stable operation of these pipelines. Recovery works on all gas pipelines, as well as work to replace gas appliances, piping and other equipment for the last period in 2011 were implemented.
