Kazakhstan is interested in taking part in the privatization of Belarusian oil refineries, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Ergali Bulegenov told a press conference on 28 March. The event was dedicated to the State of the Nation Address by Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev "Social and economic modernization as the main vector of Kazakhstan's development", BelTA has learnt.

The diplomat stressed: "Kazakhstan is deeply interested in privatization of large facilities in Belarus. This issue merits careful consideration. We are interested in purchasing a stake in the Belarusian oil refineries with high processing depth in order to produce a high-quality product and sell it to the West."

According to the Ambassador, Kazakhstan is interested in shipping oil to the Belarusian oil refineries, and its transit via Belarus to European countries. He said that the issue of increasing oil supplies is a very delicate one and should be addressed both in the bilateral and trilateral format with participation of Russia.

"Now we are negotiating with Russia the issue of oil transit to Belarus, and as far as I know, you are also engaged in relevant negotiations. In many ways our wishes coincide and there is no doubt that we will be increasing oil deliveries," Ergali Bulegenov said.
