Azerbaijan, Baku, July 5 / Trend A.Badalova /

World energy consumption will increase by 47 percent from 2010 through 2035, U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) predicts.

Most of the growth is projected for emerging economies outside the OECD (Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development), where robust economic growth is accompanied by increased demand for energy.

According to the EIA's Annual Energy Outlook 2012 (AEO2012) Reference case¸ total non-OECD energy use will grow by 72 percent, compared with an 18-percent increase in OECD energy use.

"Energy consumption in non-OECD Asia, led by China and India, shows the most robust growth among the non-OECD regions, rising by 91 percent from 2010 to 2035," EIA said.

According to the EIA's forecasts, energy consumption growth in Middle East will amount to 62 percent.

Total use of petroleum and other liquids in the AEO2012 Reference, High Oil Price, and Low Oil Price cases in 2035 ranges from 107 to 113 million barrels per day (bpd).

EIA predicts OECD petroleum and other liquids use to grow to 48 million bpd in 2035 in the Reference case. Non-OECD use is expected to increase to 61 million bpd.
