Kazakhstan to increase coal production to 155 million tones by 2030, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with reference to Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Bakhytzhan Dzhaksaliyev.

"The coal production in 2030 is forecasted at about 155 million tones," Dzhaksaliyev said at the 8th meeting of the Kazakh energy companies on Thursday.

Coal production hit 110 million tons in 2011.

According to Dzhaksaliyev, the total volume of investment in the coal industry in the next ten years will hit about 614 billion tenge (150.64 tenge = $1), including 260 billion tenge for construction and implementation of innovative technologies and 300 billion tenge for mine and quarry fund upgrading.

"In 2020, it is planned to start production at Turgay Basin coal, where open-pit mine to be constructed with capacity of 10 million tons per year," Dzhaksaliyev said.
