SOCAR improves energy supply to offshore field

The SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has carried out work on replacement and reconstruction of power generation and transmission capacities in the shallow part of Guneshli field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the company’s report stated on Tuesday.

The SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has carried out work on replacement and reconstruction of power generation and transmission capacities in the shallow part of Guneshli field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the company's report stated on Tuesday.

Power supply to 13 platforms in the field is carried out by power plant N 48, built in 1985 in the Oil Rocks field, two 35-kilovolt submarine cables and two transformer substations.

In particular, in the framework of improving energy supply to the field, work was carried out to replace the equipment of two substations, to repair transformers, to build a new 35-kilovolt 21 kilometers long cable.

SOCAR includes the Azneft production association (the companies producing oil and gas on and offshore), the Azerkimya industrial association (chemical enterprises) and Azerigaz industrial association (gas distribution).
