The Iraqi government plans to supply 100,000 barrels of oil to Jordan to help the country overcome the energy crisis, Aswat al-Iraq Agency quotes Ali al-Moussawi, Media Adviser to Iraqi Vice President, as saying on Wednesday.

"There are close ties between Iraq and Jordan. Iraqi government has taken this decision to help Amman overcome the energy crisis," al-Moussawi said.

Since the beginning of November, mass demonstrations are underway in Jordan in connection with up to 50-percent increase in fuel prices because of growing state budget deficit of the country, which hits $7.7 billion.

Iranian Ambassador to Amman Mustafa Muslah Zada said earlier that Iran is ready to supply free crude oil and other energy resources to Jordan for 30 years in exchange for some products which are in demand in Iran, as well as for expansion of religious tourism in Jordan.

Meanwhile, Jordanian government spokesman Samih al-Maaytah has excluded the possibility of Jordan accepting Iran's proposal of free oil supplies to the country for 30 years.
