Azerbaijan and Georgia are going to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the energy field. Georgian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Kakha Kaladze is in Azerbaijan on a working visit, Georgian Energy Ministry told Trend.
The delegation includes representatives of the 'Electricity System Commercial Operator' and ' Georgian State Electricity System'.
During the visit, the delegation will hold a meeting with the management of Azerenergy JSC (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) in connection with the start of negotiations on electricity imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia in winter.
Discussion of issues is expected related to the operation of a new 500 kV electric transmission line, construction of which was completed on the territories of the countries. The import-export of electricity between Georgia and Azerbaijan can be carried out through this line.
At present, work is carried out within 'Energy Bridge' project, which envisages electricity export from Azerbaijan to Turkey by connecting the power systems of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
Reconstruction of the transmission lines transmission to the border between Azerbaijan and Georgia are necessary to ensure that exports. In turn, the Georgian side should also complete the construction work on its territory.
Within the first stage, the capacity of power grids will provide the supply of 350 megawatts of electricity, with 700 megawatts within the second stage.
