Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec. 27 / Trend H. Hasanov /

Around 135,000 tons of liquefied gas has been extracted and supplied to consumers in Turkmenistan since early 2012. The main volume is intended for export, the Turkmen Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said on Thursday.

Moreover, gas condensate production amounted to 93,000 tons for the 11 months of the year. This index exceeds the planned one by 18,000 tons.

The Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transport is examining the possibility of transporting liquefied gas in special containers to Azerbaijan (Baku port), from where it will be shipped by rail to the ports of Batumi and Poti (Georgia, the Black Sea region).

Afterwards, the containers could be delivered by ships from the Georgian ports to Romania. Negotiations are already underway with Bucharest.

Moreover, Turkmenistan is showing interest at a high level in the well-known Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector (AGRI) gas pipeline project which also envisages liquefied Caspian gas supplies through the Black Sea coast of Georgia to Romania.
