Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan. 8 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

The Georgian Partnership Fund is building a thermal power plant with a capacity of 230 megawatts with a Turkish partner, the head of fund Irakli Kovzanadze said on Tuesday.

"This project had to be implemented by Inter RAO, but for some reason the agreement was broken. The Partnership Fund started the implementation of the project, and 50 million was invested in the construction during the summer", he said.

Kovzanadze said the station is being built by the fund in cooperation with the Turkish company, negotiations with which will be resumed in mid-January.

Kovzanadze believes that in 2014 and 2015, the growth of the economy will increase energy consumption leading to the need for a reserve plant.
