Turkey decreases gas imports in Jan.-April

The Turkish state pipeline company Botas imported 12.61 billion cubic meters of gas from a variety of sources in January-April 2013 compared to 15.8 billion cubic meters in January-April 2012, Botas said today.

In 2012, Botas imported 43.09 billion cubic meters of gas from a variety of sources versus more than 39.7 billion cubic meters in 2011.

Turkey also imports gas from Azerbaijan which is supplied via the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum).

Some 188 million cubic meters of gas fell to Botas export operations in January-April compared to 174 million cubic meters in January-April 2012.

Last year, the export performance of Botas reached 622 million cubic meters of gas compared to 726 million cubic meters in 2011.

Some 13.95 billion cubic meters of gas were sold in the Turkish domestic market in January-April 2013 compared to 16.02 billion cubic meters of gas in January-April 2012.

Some 41.44 billion cubic meters of gas were sold in Turkey's domestic market in 2012 compared to 39.4 billion cubic meters of gas in 2011.
