Tehran has reached agreement with Damascus and Baghdad to form a troika to export gas to Europe, deputy oil minister said on Sunday.

"The parliaments of Iraq and Syria have approved the plan," the MEhr News Agency quoted Javad Owji as saying.

He went on to note that the three mentioned countries plan to construct a pipeline dubbed "friendship", connecting Iranian port city of Assaluyeh to south of Iraq and Syria.

"In case of construction, the proposed pipeline would have the capacity to transfer 110 million cubic meters of gas," Owji said.

"Iran has the capacity to export 150 to 200 million cubic meters of gas to Eurpoe in the next few years," he added.

According to Owji, Iran also plans to export gas to Europe via Turkey.

"Iran gas revenues would reach 8 billion dollars by the end of the Iranian calendar year of 1393 (March 20, 2015)," he said.

Iran sits on the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia ‎and is trying to grow its gas production by increasing foreign and ‎domestic investments, especially in its South Pars gas field‏.‏
