During an interview with Trend on Jan. 22 the Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Rafael Harpaz said that Azerbaijan's experience in the energy sector is very important for Israel.
"We have little experience in energy in Israel. You have a lot of experience in the sphere of energy. Israel has discovered a significant amount of natural gas offshore on the sea. We would like very much to learn from Azerbaijani experience in this area. We just decided to export 40 percent of natural gas that we have found," the ambassador said.
The ambassador went on to say that Israel is still in the process of creating its energy fund, adding that there are few Israeli who are experts in natural gas. "So we want to learn from your experience," Harpaz said.
The diplomat also congratulated Azerbaijan for the final investment decision on Shah Deniz 2, which, according to him, is very important, which should bring Azeri gas in 2019 to Europe.
Harpaz expressed hope that activities of the Caspian Drilling Company in Israel will continue in the future. "It is a very important area that we want you to share your experience with Israel. We are really at the beginning stage. So this cooperation is really important for us," the ambassador said.
