Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz, the Turkmen government said May 2.

It is reported that the sides exchanged views on the cooperation prospects. They focused on the opportunities of developing the cooperation in such a strategic sphere as fuel and energy complex.

"Turkey supports the Turkmen leader's constructive international initiatives on energy security as an important factor for sustainable development in the regional and global scale," Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper quoted the Turkish minister as saying.

Turkmenistan's energy strategy is based on the principles of diversifying the routes for energy resource supply to the world markets. It envisages the formation of a multiple pipeline infrastructure, the newspaper wrote.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that TANAP project (Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline) could count on the Turkmen gas supplies to Europe.

"TANAP can transport gas both from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan via Turkey to Europe," Erdogan said during his visit to Ashgabat in November 2014.

It is necessary to lay a 300-kilometer gas pipeline through the Caspian Sea, then onshore - by transit via Azerbaijan and Turkey to supply the Turkmen gas to the European markets. SOCAR is ready to provide Turkmenistan with infrastructure, a diversified oil and gas pipeline system and other opportunities to implement the projects in the oil and gas industry, President of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) Rovnag Abdullayev said at a conference in Ashgabat in November 2014.
