Azerbaijan increases polyethylene and propylene production

Azerbaijan produced 71,700 metric tons of polyethylene in January-September 2015, or 5.2 percent more than in the same period of 2014, the country's State Statistics Committee said in its report on Jan.-Sept. 2015.

Moreover, 40,300 metric tons of polypropylene were produced in Azerbaijan in Jan.-Sept. or 1.7 percent more than in the same period of 2014.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan produced 44,300 metric tons of barium sulfate, or 20 percent more than in Jan.-Sept. 2014.

The report said that the country produced 7,840 metric tons of isopropyl alcohol, or 50.7 percent more than in the same period of 2014.

In general, the report said that Azerbaijan saw growth in the production of majority of main chemical products for nine months of 2015.

The country produced 9,600 metric tons of solid polyethylene pipes, tubes, hoses in Jan.-Sept., or 23.2 percent less than in Jan.-Sept. 2014.
