Azerbaijan exported 29.81 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity in January-February 2016 compared to 37.23 million kWh of electricity exported in the same period of 2015, the country's State Statistics Committee's report said March 17.
Azerbaijan exported electricity worth $1.46 million in January-February 2016 compared to $1.93 million in the same period of 2015, according to the committee.
Azerbaijan exported 276.78 million kWh of electricity in accordance with the customs declaration in 2015 versus 588.32 million kWh in 2014.
Azerenergy JSC is the main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan.
The generation capacity of Azerbaijan's power supply system has increased by 30 percent for the last five years. Currently, its capacity is 7,129 megawatt. This allows generating around 24 billion kWh of electricity and exporting 2.1 billion kWh of electricity annually.
