Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR has started the work to drill another well at the Garadagh underground gas storage facility, a source in SOCAR told Trend Apr. 14.
The work is being carried out as part of expansion of the underground gas storage facilities' capacities, added the source.
The new well's projected depth is about 3,500 meters.
"It is planned that after the well's commissioning, 100,000 cubic meters of gas a day will be pumped into it," said the source.
There is a plan to drill more than 20 wells in a few years to increase the volumes of gas pumping and storing in the underground facilities.
SOCAR's gas storage facilities allow storing over 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
