Gas production in Turkmenistan increased by 8.1 percent and stood at 80.162 billion cubic meters in 2015, according to OPEC Annual Statistical Bulletin 2015.

Turkmenistan’s gas export stood at 45.804 billion cubic meters in 2015, or 0.1 percent less than in 2014, according to OPEC.

Gas demand in the country increased by 3.2 percent and totalled 35.294 billion cubic meters in 2015, added OPEC.

Turkmenistan’s largest gas resources are concentrated in the country’s Mary province – in Galkynysh and Yashlar fields.

Total reserves of Galkynysh and Yashlar fields are estimated at 26.2 trillion cubic meters of gas, while taking into account the reserves of the newly-discovered Garakel field, which is a part of this block of fields, the volume of reserves is up to 27.4 trillion cubic meters.

In total, it is planned to produce up to 93 billion cubic meters of marketable gas per year in three stages at the Galkynysh field.
