A number of processing facilities are planned to be built in the oil refining complex of Turkmenistan in the near future, said a source in the fuel and energy complex of the country.
A diesel fuel hydrotreating and dewaxing unit, a secondary gasoline hydrotreating unit, a hydrogen production unit, a catalytic isode deparaffinization unit, and a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit are among them.
These projects will allow to expand the range of products and improve their quality.
Moreover, the possibility of organizing the production of benzene at refineries in the cities of Turkmenbashi and Seidi is being studied with a view to its subsequent use as raw materials for obtaining high-value products that are in demand in the world market, such as polystyrene and rubber.
Turkmenistan plans to increase the capacity of the oil processing sphere up to 20 million tons of oil by 2020, 22 million tons – by 2025 and 30 million tons – by 2030. Currently, the country produces nearly 10 million tons of oil per year, a major part of which is being processed at national enterprises.
