By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

UK-based TechnipFMC company doesn’t rule out the possibility of future participation in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas projects, Trend learned from the company.

In 2015, FMC Kongsberg Subsea AS became a contractor of BP-Azerbaijan for equipping mining complexes No.3, 4 and 5 on Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field consisting of subsea manifolds, control units and other equipment. After the merger with Technip, the newly-established TechnipFMC undertook the contract obligations.

“We are supplying equipment according to the contract mentioned. Our priority is to work with BP on the Shah Deniz project. Any future opportunities in the Azerbaijan’s oil and gas sector will be welcome,” said the source.

Agility Subsea Fabrication (ASF), a world leading subsea fabricator based in Norway is a subcontractor of TechnipFMC for supply of equipment for Shah Deniz 2.

The contract is worth $49.27 million and includes the supply of manifolds, bases and well jumpers to Azerbaijan. The total weight of the equipment supplied will be 3,600 tons.

The last deliveries under the contract are scheduled for the summer of 2019.

As part of the Shah Deniz 2 project, gas production will increase from 9 to 25 billion cubic meters per year. The produced gas will be exported to Turkey and the European markets through the expansion of the South Caucasus Pipeline and the construction of the Trans-Anatolian (TANAP) and Trans-Adriatic (TAP) gas pipelines.

A contract for development of the Shah Deniz offshore field was signed on June 4, 1996. The field's reserve is estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.
