Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Aug. 3

By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Kyrgyzstan is interested in importing Turkmen liquefied gas, said a message from Turkmengas state concern.

This interest was expressed by representatives of the country at the meeting of the Turkmen-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission (IGC) in Ashgabat.

"The transformation of fuel consumption is going on in the world. Cars are switching to the fuel produced from gas, and we are interested in the supply of liquefied gas from Turkmenistan to our gas stations," the message quoted the Minister of Economy of Kyrgyzstan Oleg Pankratov as saying.

Kyrgyzstan is negotiating with the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan to find opportunities to increase trade turnover.

Turkmen liquefied gas is purchased by Afghanistan, Georgia, Iran, Tajikistan and Pakistan.

The natural gas of a number of fields in Turkmenistan contains a sufficient amount of propane-butane, which determines the feasibility of construction of facilities for the production of liquefied petroleum gas being a valuable fuel.

Turkmenistan holds a key position in the region for natural gas supplies. The country exports gas to China and Iran. Traditional buyer of Turkmen gas, Russia, completely stopped buying it in 2016.
