Construction of Uzbek GTL plant enters active phase

Two units of the main large-sized technological equipment weighing 550 and 350 tons each have been brought to the construction site of a plant for the production of synthetic liquid fuel (GTL) in Uzbek Kashkadarya region, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekneftegaz.
"The batch of the main large-scale technological equipment is now on its way from Karakalpakstan to the Kashkadarya region. Before that, the route was made from South Korea through several countries; 7000 kilometers, through sea routes and main logistics routes. They will arrive at the plant in March," Uzbekneftegaz noted.
These units will be used in the workshop for the production of synthetic liquid of plant under construction.
Thanks to these installations, the gas produced (methane + oxygen) as a result of chemical reactions and technological processes will be converted into synthetic liquid fuel - the so-called semi-finished product, from which, after going through a number of processes, the main oil products, such as diesel, kerosene and naphtha will be obtained.
Nowadays, the implementation of GTL project entered the active phase. More than 5,000 workers, builders and engineers were mobilized on the construction site; more than 500 units of construction and special equipment were involved. Construction of the GTL plant in Uzbekistan continues at an active pace. The overall progress of the implementation of EPC contract exceeded 71 percent.
"In total, more than 11.000 units of technological equipment are manufactured in more than 129 plants in 24 countries of the world for the GTL plant under construction. Today, more than 116 sets of high-tech equipment have been delivered to the construction site, where they are being assembled and installed. Moreover, 153 sets have already been shipped to the construction site from manufacturers and are on their way to Uzbekistan," Uzbekneftegaz stressed.
GTL project implementation will provide an opportunity to provide the annual import substitution of petroleum products in the amount of up to 1.5 million tons.
The raw material base for the plant producing synthetic liquid fuel will be purified gas - methane from the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex which volume per year will be 3.6 billion cubic meters.
The plant will annually produce more than 1.5 million tons of high-quality synthetic liquid fuel that meets the EURO 5 standard, including 743,500 tons of diesel fuel, 311,000 tons of aviation kerosene, more than 431,000 tons of naphtha, more than 50,000 tons of liquefied gas.
