Launch of Turakurgan TPP in Uzbekistan's region to take place in fall

The first combined-cycle plant of the Turakurgan Thermal Power Plant is scheduled to be commissioned in September of this year, the second - in December, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Uzbek president.

Today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev assessed the construction of thermal power plant. He noted that this project is of great strategic importance; the station will further enhance the economic potential of the region and ensure reliable electricity supply to the population.

Currently, the installation of the main power generating units - the first and second transformer units, combined-cycle turbine, and others is carried out. The work on the construction of external communications and water supply network is completed.

The facility will be supplied with gas through the Soh-Namangan gas pipeline, technical water from the Great Namangan Canal.

The total cost of the project is more than $1 billion 195 million, it is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan and Uzbekenergo.

Some 300 people provided with jobs. Most importantly, the electricity produced here at cost will be cheaper than the energy generated by other TPPs.
