The US company Westport Trading Europe Limited (WTL) is among the leading business partners of Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

The director of the company's branch in Turkmenistan, Allaberdy Ilyasov said that the company did work for over $500 million in the country.

It is reported that the WTL portfolio of proposals contains projects related to the reconstruction and construction of facilities at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR).

For example, programs are being developed to obtain petroleum needle coke, which is used to make graphite electrodes. Graphite and its derivatives are actively used in the nuclear, metallurgical, chemical, space industries.

The article says that two types of petroleum coke are produced at the TCOR - total (semi-finished) and calcined coke. But in comparison with the price of total coke, needle coke on the world market is 10 or more times more expensive. In addition, WTL proposes to start production of benzene - one of the main raw materials for the petrochemical industry.

The company also has proposals for the study of the percentage concentration of helium in natural gas from fields in Turkmenistan.

Experts estimate that by 2030 helium use may reach 238–312 million cubic meters, and production by this time will be only 213–238 million cubic meters.

“We offer our partners flexible financing conditions, ensuring stable success in competitive environment,” Ilyasov noted.
